Libel and Slander
Libel and Slander are serious torts that come in two different forms.
Together they are referred to as Defamation. Libel is the publication of a
written false statement, which injures a person's business or personal
reputation. Certain conditions must be present for a statement to be considered
libelous. Slander is a spoken false statement, which injures a person’s business
or personal reputation.
Macaulay McColl has extensive experience in handling such cases. We have
acted for both plaintiffs and defendants. In these cases it is vital to obtain
legal advice before taking any steps. Usually proper advice can avoid serious
problems.
